When do I check-in?
Vendor check-in is from 2-6 p.m. on Thursday, September 11.
Attendee check-in officially begins at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, September 12, and the registration table will be staffed and open throughout the weekend. To register, simply share your name, and we’ll give you a wristband. That wristband will unlock your admission to all IHS events!
Where do I park?
The most convenient parking is located at the Washington Park Garage. This garage also offers bike parking! To see other options visit our Plan Your Trip page.
What should I bring?
We will have a tea station to keep you hydrated throughout the day, but help us minimize single-use cups by bringing your own tea mug. Dress comfortably, and layers are recommended. While some teachers may provide you with printed notes for their class, many will not. Bring your favorite note-taking device/journal. And if you’re going to participate in the product contest, be sure to read up on the details.
Is it walkable?
The area is pedestrian friendly. There are also ride sharing apps (i.e., Lyft) and taxis available for those who need motorized transportation.
How about accessibility?
The majority of the classes will be held at Memorial Hall. To view accessibility options, please visit their Accessibility page.
Can I still add an Intensive?
There are only two intensives that are sold out: Sunday’s lei making workshop and Friday’s botanical illustrations class. The easiest way to add any of the other intensives is to do it when you arrive. If you’d like to secure your spot in advance, you can add it via the registration page (but it’s a complicated process!) or email our team (), and we can help you get registered. All of the remaining intensives are $40 each.
What is the class schedule?
You can access the class schedule here. (Disclaimer: A few classes may shift between now and then.) We will keep the class list up-to-date on the website and will have printed schedules for folks on-site. The only class included in your in-person ticket with limited entry is Christopher Hobbs’ class at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, as he will be giving his talk at the Lloyd Library. We will have a sign-up for his class at the on-site registration table.
How can I visit the Lloyd Library?
The library’s regular open hours are 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The library will also be opening up just for IHS attendees from 2-3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
What about the field trip to United Plant Savers?
You’re invited to visit the Botanical Sanctuary at United Plant Savers on Monday, September 15. Staff will be available to take visitors on tours at the times listed below. (Note: these times are slightly different from what we shared during the replay. The below is accurate!)
Tours will be offered on Monday at the following times:
- 10:30 a.m.
- 1 p.m.
- 4 p.m.
David Winston will also be leading one of the Sanctuary tours at 10:30 a.m., which will focus on plants popular with the Eclectics.
The Sanctuary is about a 2.5-hour drive from Cincinnati. We do not offer transportation there, but we will have a ride share board available on-site at registration. Folks are also starting to organize ride shares on our Facebook Event Page.
If you’d like to camp at the Sanctuary on Sunday or Monday evenings, you can reserve your camping spot (there is a $10 camping fee).
Is lodging or food provided?
This year, you have ultimate flexibility for where to stay and what food you’d like to eat! Lodging and food is not included, and your event ticket price is lower this year to reflect this. We will have food trucks with food available for purchase at the venue, and there are many wonderful restaurants nearby as well. If you’re still in need of lodging or interested in sharing a space with others, we recommend coordinating with other attendees on our Facebook Event Page.
Can I get my books signed?
IHS teachers who have published books will be available for a book signing from 12:00-2 p.m. on Sunday. Many of those teachers will be selling books at IHS, or you’re welcome to bring your own copies from home for signing.
