Sara Ratza is a Clinical Western Herbalist and former owner of Ratza Chocolate. From Tarpon Springs, Florida, after the flooding of her community from Hurricane Helene and soon after Hurricane Milton, Sara knew that it was time to move on from her brick and mortar business and focus on her own health and healing, both physically and mentally. With a degree in Studio Art from Indiana University, Bloomington, she went back to her roots and called on her plants to help her heal through creativity. Sara has since closed her business and has been teaching about plants and herbs as well as focused on bettering her own practice as an artist. Sara has been trained as a Nature Journaling Educator through the John Muir Laws foundation “Wild Wonder” and works as an educator at the prestigious Dunedin Fine Art Center in Dunedin, Florida and multiple homeschool co-ops. Her areas of study are currently natural plant dyeing and getting better at the pottery wheel. Sara is founder of an herbal collective in her community called “The Sage Society” and has also been volunteering at her local urban farm in Clearwater, Florida, working with the flowers. Sara is the author of her book “Drinking Chocolate: Ancient Traditions for Modern Healing”.
Sara has been a teacher for over two decades including art in the public school system, art at her local fine art center, and herbalism and botany at her local homeschool co-ops. She taught about the medicine of Cacao through her business Ratza Chocolate since 2015 and later through her book that was published in 2023. She has had the honor of teaching at the Florida Herbal Conference in 2024 and 2025, as well as her local Herb Day at Traditions School of Herbal Studies in St. Petersburg Florida in 2022-2024. Sara has been a guest on multiple podcasts and news stories.
