Richard Mandelbaum RH is a clinical herbalist with a private practice in Brooklyn, NY. In addition to seeing clients he is a founding director and instructor at the ArborVitae School of Traditional Herbalism in New York City, and is also on the faculty at David Winston’s Center for Herbal Studies in New Jersey and is an instructor in Botany at the Tri-State College of Acupuncture in New York. Richard has been an avid student of our native flora for over thirty years. He has been practicing as an herbalist since 1997, blending the biomedical use of our native medicinal plants and mushrooms with Chinese and Western herbal traditions. He is a graduate of David Winston’s School of Herbal Therapeutics and studied in New York City with William LeSassier. He joined the AHG Board of Directors in 2012 and currently serves as Secretary and chair of the AHG Policy and Diversity committees.
Richard is also active in issues related to sustainability, social justice, and fair trade. He migrates with his wife Gabrielle and their daughter Rose between Brooklyn and their straw bale home in Forestburgh, NY.
