About Course

As natural disasters start occurring more frequently and assistance from outside organizations and authorities becomes less reliable, mutual aid is the way to create community resiliency. From Hurricane Katrina to Standing Rock to California wildfires to Hurricane Helene, herbalists have been an important part of disaster response, and using the principle of “solidarity, not charity,” we continue to organize within our communities even before a disaster. This class will cover the core concepts and practical application of mutual aid, as well as discuss helpful herbs during times of crisis, including how to support mutual aid networks from afar.
