About Course

In this class, Gabriel Mojay shares with practitioners an analysis of the wide-ranging scientific research concerning the therapeutic activities of German and Roman chamomile and their aromatic and herbal constituent compounds. He surveys these properties according to key body systems, highlighting, in particular, the importance of their combined anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities, and how the interdependence of these faculties reflects the intrinsic therapeutic alchemy of each botanical remedy.

Relating the pharmacology of Matricaria and Chamaemelum essential oils and herbal extracts to their energetic functions according to traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), Gabriel discusses their symptomatic uses in terms of the various clinical terrain they address. He recommends in each context aromatic-herbal formulations that address antioxidant hepatoprotection and neuroprotection, acute otitis externa, gingivitis, eczema, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, gastritis and gastric ulcer, sarcopenia, primary hypertension, and anxiety and anxious depression.

Finally, Gabriel will explore their subtle psycho-alchemical influences by way of their taste and fragrance energetics and their traditional symbolism, beginning the class and concluding it with a ‘scented plant sonnet’ — a Shakespearean-style poem that condenses the narratives of their active archetypal meanings.
