2019  IHS Registration Information

You are joyfully invited to attend the International Herbal Symposium held at Wheaton College from June 7-9, 2019!  Below you will find information on registration, lodging, meals, intensives, the Veterinarian track, and pre-ordering the Symposium Proceedings Book.

Registration

Adult Registration: $300* or $330 does not include lodging/meals/intensives (see details below.)  includes all classes, activities, entertainment, Herbalist’s ball and herb walks except for the Intensive Classes which are an additional $35 for each Intensive. A few of the hands-on craft activities charge a small material fee of between $5–$8 payable to the teacher at the time of the class; material fees are noted on the IHS schedule.

$330 Regular Registration After Feb 15th.

*In order to qualify for any registration discounts, ALL fees including lodging, meals and intensives must be paid in full by February 15th for Early Bird. Also please be aware that the refund policy differs for Early Bird registrations. See the Refund Policy Section below for details.

Senior Registration: $225 does not include lodging/meals/intensives. Individuals 65 years of age or older can register for a Senior Registration fee of $225.

United Plant Savers Members Adult Registration: 10% off Adult Registration  The IHS is a benefit conference for United Plant Savers and we offer current UPS members 10% off Adult Registration. Teen Registration: $195 does not include lodging/meals/intensives. Teenagers between the ages of 13 and 18 who are interested in herbal studies are welcome to accompany registered adults at the IHS.  In order to encourage their participation, we offer a special Teen Discount of $195 which includes all activities and classes. Lodging, Meals and Intensives are an additional fee.

Child Registration: $125 includes children’s activities, but does not include full-time child care or lodging and meals. Younger children 2 -12, are also welcome to attend the IHS with registered adults. However, we are unable to provide full-time childcare at the IHS. If bringing child(ren), please do so with the understanding that they will need to be with you under your direct supervision at all times and will need to be quiet and respectful during classes.  As in past years, we have fabulous herbalists offering several hands-on activities for the children during the IHS, but parents are generally expected to stay with their younger children during these activities. A schedule of activities for the children will be posted on the website.


Lodging & Meals

Lodging & Meal Package ~ Includes 2 nights lodging, 6 meals, and linens (bedding, pillow, towels)

Lodging: Wheaton College is a lovely old New England College campus. Basic Dorms are classic older dorms that are very simple rooms in older college dormitories with shared bathrooms. The IHS is committed to creating a safe and welcoming gathering that respects and celebrates the diversity of our community. With that in mind, lodging arrangements will include options with both gendered and non-gendered bathrooms and floors (i.e. all women’s floors/bathroom, all men’s floors/bathrooms, non-gender floors/bathrooms and both single and double room occupancies). The cost of lodging is very affordable and makes it easier for many to attend who otherwise may not be able to. We’re grateful for that, and hope you are as well. The Newer Dorms provide larger, nicer rooms with air conditioning & elevators.  Bathrooms are still shared but in smaller quadrants.

Meals: Food served at Wheaton College is excellent. Though it is impossible to please everyone (especially concerning food!), Wheaton dining staff do a topnotch job and satisfy most of the participants.  Although food is not 100% certified organic, produce and dairy are sourced from many local farms, bread is baked fresh daily in the Wheaton kitchen, and food is wholesome and nourishing.  There are vegetarian and meat entrées at every meal, a salad and sandwich bar, and a few choices for vegans.

Basic Dorm Lodging & 6 Meals: $190 pp for double/triple occupancy or $210 pp single occupancy Friday and Saturday night lodging in classic older dorms & 6 meals, Friday dinner thru Sunday lunch.

New Dorm Lodging & 6 Meals: $250 pp for double occupancy or $280 pp for single occupancy  Friday and Saturday night lodging in newer air-conditioned dorms & 6 meals, Friday dinner thru Sunday lunch.

Extra night(s) lodging for Thursday or Sunday nights: Basic Dorm extra night-$50 pp per night or New Dorm extra night- $75 pp per night. ******For those arriving on Thursday evening, Friday Breakfast ($10) and Lunch ($12) will be served. Pay at the door. Great food and a variety of choices including vegetarian and meat entrées.

Child's Lodging & 6 Meals- for children 6-12 years old $100 Children under 6 years old--meals & lodging are free. Please note that "free" children under 6 years of age will not be provided their own bed. If a bed is needed for children under 6, they will need to register for children's lodging at the $100 rate.


Commuters

Commuting: For those fully registered participants that choose to commute or lodge off-campus, there are several hotels and motels and a campground in the area as well as a couple of small basic restaurants in Norton. There is free public parking around the campus that is “first-come-first-served”.   

Commuter Meal Option: $100 Commuters can purchase a six meal package: Friday Dinner through Sunday lunch.


Symposium Proceedings Book, Veterinarian Track, & Intensive Classes

Symposium Proceedings Book and Flashdrive
This beautiful bound book is over 300 pages and is filled with the teacher’s class notes, handouts, herbal directories and resources. It’s a valuable reference treasured long after the conference.  

  • $25 per copy when pre-ordered, (order when registering)/$30 if purchased at the Symposium

  • $15 for electronic version/flashdrive/$20 if purchased at the Symposium

Veterinarian Track: $40
If registering for the Vet Track, there is an additional fee of $40 with money going toward helping to secure CE credits for alternative therapies. A certificate of attendance from VBMA will be given to participants signing up for the Vet Track.  Please indicate on the registration form that you are signing up for the Vet Track. Please note that all attendees are welcome to attend any Vet Track classes whether or not they are practitioners.

Intensive Classes: $35
Intensive workshops offer participants the opportunity to delve deeper into subjects of particular interest and to work more closely with individual teachers.  Intensives are 3 ½ to 4 hours in length and are an additional $35 each. Space is limited and intensives fill up quickly. Be sure to register and prepay ahead of time to ensure your space. Refund Policy

All refund requests must be in writing and received via email or regular mail in our office at the designated times notes below.

Early Bird Registration:  

  • Before May 12th: Only 75% of total fees will be refunded.

  • Between May 12 and May 19:  Half of the total fees paid minus a $75 processing fee/per registrant will be refunded.

Regular Registration:

  • Before May 12: All fees except for a $75 processing fee/per registrant are fully refundable until May 12.  (Includes tuition, intensives, meal/lodging fees)

  • Between May 12 and May 19:  Half of the total fees paid minus a $75 processing fee/per registrant will be refunded.

After May 19th there will be absolutely no refunds.
