Entertainment & Activities

With over 50 teachers representing 14 countries and more than 100 workshops, we’re sure you’ll find more than enough to satisfy your yearning for herbal knowledge.  The IHS is far more than just a grand educational event; it is a celebration of the spirit of plants and the people who love them. Throughout the weekend, there are many activities, the Grand Herbalist Fantasy Ball, evening entertainment, Herbal Emporium, the Herbal Products Contest, Botanical Art Exhibit, massage and pampering at the Relaxation Oasis, and much more.

Saturday Evening’s Grand Herbalist
Fantasy Ball is Not To Be Missed.

On Saturday night dress up in your herbal fantasy finery and come dance the night away.  We’ve got some great music lined up, an herbal tonic mocktail bar and plenty of Rosemary’s famous Kava Chai Punch. Great Music! Good Food! The Finest Company!

Throughout the weekend, there will be several opportunities to participate in events, activities & circles.  Walk the labyrinth. Join an herb walk. Lay on the green with a cup of tea. Pamper yourself. There will also be time on Sunday morning for people to gather in circle to offer gratitude and blessings to the land and our ancestors and to welcome in summer.

Book Signing

The author’s book signing will happen on Friday night after the keynote presentation! It is a wonderful opportunity to meet the herbal authors and have your books signed! You may also choose to purchase books and have them signed on site. More information to come!

Meet the Artist

Be sure to visit the beautiful Botanical Art Exhibit arranged by Katherine Yvinskas and featuring several talented herbal artists. Artists will be in the Art Exhibit Room from 9:30-10 on Friday evening so stop by, meet the artists, and enjoy the beautiful art pieces. Some of the artwork is available for sale.

Music & Entertainment

Each year at the Symposium, we feature several wonderful musicians & entertainers.  Rising Appalachia, Katrin Roush, Guadalupe Urbina, and Zulieka are among the great musicians & entertainers who have performed at the IHS.  We’re working on our line up this year and will post it as soon as we get final confirmation..

Meet The Trees

Wheaton College is home to many majestic old specimen trees as well as woodlands that adjoin the campus. Participants are encouraged to find time during the weekend to greet these ‘elder trees’ and take a quiet stroll in a lovely eastern mixed hardwood/evergreen forest.

Herbal Products Contest

All participants are welcome to participate in the Herbal Products Contest. Amazing creations! Fantastic prizes!  Bring your favorite and finest herbal product. More information to come about contest details and how to submit your products.

Children's Activities

Come learn and play during these classes designed for kids ages 4-12 years old. Children under this age can attend with a parent. Children older than twelve are welcome to join in, too, if they are interested in the topics and enjoy playing with younger children. Each session will have a focused activity with additional games, stories, and nature skits, rounding out the time slot.

In music, in a flower, in a leaf, in an act of kindness…
I see what people call God in all these things.
